Some people curse Redding summers, I happen to love them. Activity at Redding Recreation is in full swing with operations at the Redding Aquatic Center, Fantasy Fountain, day camps of all sorts, skateboard lessons, softball and tennis programs and lots of young staff working hard to make a positive impact on their playful charges. Come out and play even if that means a morning walk on the trail.
Have you been to the MLK Center lately? Over the last year, many new programs have been started and improvements made to the facility. Most of these programs are no or low cost and open to all residents. See page 44. Financial assistance is available for most programs in this guide, please inquire with staff.
Thank you to The McConnell Foundation for sponsoring the annual July 4th Freedom Festival and Firework Show. This is a cherished Redding tradition and a fine time to celebrate our democracy and recognize those who protect it with family and friends.

Our Services
On a year-round basis Redding Recreation provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to pursue hobbies, develop talents, form new friendships, and enjoy various sports.
During our infamous hot summers we offer swimming classes and a variety of aquatics programs. We are especially excited about the Redding Aquatic Center which features an olympic sized pool, a second pool and water slides.
Two large city parks and numerous smaller parks provide ample facilities for picnics and family fun. In addition to our current programs, Redding Recreation is continually seeking new ways to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
